Read this slowly

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone. Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often?

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror. The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand.

Bob? Bob from Church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the coming ticket. A cop catching a guy from his own church. A guy who happened to be a little eager to get home after a long day at the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow.

Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in uniform.

"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."

"Hello, Jack." No smile.

"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."

"Yeah, I guess." Bob seemed uncertain. Good.

"I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit -just this once."

Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement. "Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?" "I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct ." Ouch. This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.

"What'd you clock me at?"

"Seventy. Would you sit back in your car please?"

"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

"Please, Jack, in the car"

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door. Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window.

The minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad.

Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license?

Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before Jack ever sat near this cop again. A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice.

Bob returned to his police car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost?

Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke?

Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read:

"Dear Jack, Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it- a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters, all three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven before I can ever hug her again.

A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me. And be careful, Jack, my son is all I have left."

"Bob"

Jack turned around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived.

Life is precious. Handle with care.

THE LAW IS THE LAW

So if the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions. I would like to think that those people have the American public best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving &Easter. After all, it's just another day. I'd like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays. After all, it's just another day. I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day. I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime!

.....since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact.... I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshiping God) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day....

What do you all think????

A Christmas Miracle

Hope this finds you and your family well and enjoying this wonderful Christmas season.

Miracles happen throughout the year and there is no better time to say thanks for the greatest miracle of all....the birth of Jesus Christ. What a wonderful gift! No gift ever received can take the place of this wonderful gift. I have included the story of another Christmas Miracle below for your Christmas season enjoyment.

Christmas Miracle
by Susan Leonard

When I recall precious Christmas memories, I think of a very special story, one which represents the magic and glory of the season. This is a true story, as told to me by my husband -- a professional Santa Claus -- of a real Christmas miracle which he experienced. A story that I think will cause YOU to believe ...

Three years ago, a little boy and his grandmother came to see my Santa at Mayfair Mall in Wisconsin. The child climbed up on his lap, holding a picture of a little girl.

"Who is this?" asked Santa, smiling. "Your friend? Your sister?"

"Yes, Santa," he replied. "My sister, Sarah, who is very sick," he said sadly. Santa glanced over at the grandmother who was waiting nearby, and saw her dabbing her eyes with a tissue.

"She wanted to come with me to see you, oh, so very much, Santa!" the child exclaimed. "She misses you," he added softly.

Santa tried to be cheerful and encouraged a smile to the boy's face, asking him what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas. When they finished their visit, the Grandmother came over to help the child off his lap, and started to say something to Santa, but halted.

"What is it?" Santa asked warmly.

"Well, I know it's really too much to ask you, Santa, but ...." the old woman began, shooing her grandson over to one of Santa's elves to collect the little gift which Santa gave all his young visitors. "The girl in the photograph ... my granddaughter ... well, you see ... she has leukemia and isn't expected to make it even through the holidays," she said through tear-filled eyes. "Is there any way, Santa ... any possible way that you could come see Sarah? That's all she's asked for, for Christmas, is to see Santa."

Santa blinked and swallowed hard and told the woman to leave information with his elves as to where Sarah was, and he would see what he could do.

Santa thought of little else the rest of that afternoon. He knew what he had to do. "What if it were MY child lying in that hospital bed, dying," he thought with a sinking heart, "this is the least I can do."

When Santa finished visiting with all the boys and girls that evening, he retrieved from his helper the name of the hospital where Sarah was staying. He asked the assistant location manager how to get to Children's Hospital. "Why?" Rick asked, with a puzzled look on his face. Santa relayed to him the conversation with Sarah's grandmother earlier that day. "C'mon .... I'll take you there," Rick said softly.

Rick drove them to the hospital and came inside with Santa. They found out which room Sarah was in. A pale Rick said he would wait out in the hall.

Santa quietly peeked into the room through the half-closed door and saw little Sarah on the bed. The room was full of what appeared to be her family; there was the Grandmother and the girl's brother he had met earlier that day. A woman whom he guessed was Sarah's mother stood by the bed, gently pushing Sarah's thin hair off her forehead. And another woman who he discovered later was Sarah's aunt, sat in a chair near the bed with a weary, sad look on her face. They were talking quietly, and Santa could sense the warmth and closeness of the family, and their love and concern for Sarah.

Taking a deep breath, and forcing a smile on his face, Santa entered the room, bellowing a hearty, "Ho, ho, ho!"

"Santa!" shrieked little Sarah weakly, as she tried to escape her bed to run to him, IV tubes intact.

Santa rushed to her side and gave her a warm hug. A child the tender age of his own son -- 9 years old -- gazed up at him with wonder and excitement. Her skin was pale and her short tresses bore telltale bald patches from the effects of chemotherapy. But all he saw when he looked at her was a pair of huge, blue eyes.

His heart melted, and he had to force himself to choke back tears. Though his eyes were riveted upon Sarah's face, he could hear the gasps and quiet sobbing of the women in the room. As he and Sarah began talking, the family crept quietly to the bedside one by one, squeezing Santa's shoulder or his hand gratefully, whispering "thank you" as they gazed sincerely at him with shining eyes.

Santa and Sarah talked and talked, and she told him excitedly all the toys she wanted for Christmas, assuring him she'd been a very good girl that year. As their time together dwindled, Santa felt led in his spirit to pray for Sarah, and asked for permission from the girl's mother. She nodded in agreement and the entire family circled around Sarah's bed, holding hands.

Santa looked intensely at Sarah and asked her if she believed in angels. "Oh, yes, Santa ... I do!" she exclaimed.

"Well, I'm going to ask that angels watch over you," he said.

Laying one hand on the child's head, Santa closed his eyes and prayed. He asked that God touch little Sarah, and heal her body from this disease. He asked that angels minister to her, watch and keep her. And when he finished praying, still with eyes closed, he started singing softly, "Silent Night, Holy Night ... all is calm, all is bright." The family joined in, still holding hands, smiling at Sarah, and crying tears of hope, tears of joy for this moment, as Sarah beamed at them all.

When the song ended, Santa sat on the side of the bed again and held Sarah's frail, small hands in his own. "Now, Sarah," he said authoritatively, "you have a job to do, and that is to concentrate on getting well. I want you to have fun playing with your friends this summer, and I expect to see you at my house at Mayfair Mall this time next year!"

He knew it was risky proclaiming that, to this little girl who had terminal cancer, but he had to. He had to give her the greatest gift he could -- not dolls or games or toys -- but the gift of HOPE.

"Yes, Santa!" Sarah exclaimed, her eyes bright. He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead and left the room.

Out in the hall, the minute Santa's eyes met Rick's, a look passed between them and they wept unashamed. Sarah's mother and grandmother slipped out of the room quickly and rushed to Santa's side to thank him. "My only child is the same age as Sarah," he explained quietly. "This is the least I could do." They nodded with understanding and hugged him.

One year later, Santa Mark was again back on the set in Milwaukee for his six-week, seasonal job which he so loves to do. Several weeks went by and then one day a child came up to sit on his lap. "Hi, Santa! Remember me?!"

"Of course, I do," Santa proclaimed (as he always does), smiling down at her. After all, the secret to being a *good* Santa is to always make each child feel as if they are the only child in the world at that moment.

"You came to see me in the hospital last year!"

Santa's jaw dropped. Tears immediately sprang in his eyes, and he grabbed this little miracle and held her to his chest. "Sarah!" he exclaimed. He scarcely recognized her, for her hair was long and silky and her cheeks were rosy -- much different from the little girl he had visited just a year before.

He looked over and saw Sarah's mother and grandmother in the sidelines smiling and waving and wiping their eyes.

That was the best Christmas ever for Santa Claus. He had witnessed -- and been blessed to be instrumental in bringing about -- this miracle of hope.

This precious little child was healed. Cancer-free. Alive and well. He silently looked up to Heaven and humbly whispered,

"Thank you, Father. 'Tis a very, merry Christmas!"

Publisher's Note:: This story has circulated widely on the Internet over the last 3 years with "Author Unknown" in the byline. That was how I originally received the story and published it. With a sense of relief and gratitude I can now give credit where credit is due. The story was told by Mark R. Leonard, a professional Santa Claus and written by his wife, Susan Leonard, a.k.a "Mrs. Claus:" http://www.geocities.com/santa_mark/miraclestory.html.

As you and your family reflect on God's unfailing love and enjoy this special time together, I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. Are you a believer?

The current administration has another present for you

CHICAGO — "Dozens of terrorism suspects being held at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will be moved to a little-used Illinois state prison that will be acquired and upgraded by the federal government, an Obama administration official said."

Great effort, but the outcome could have been better

Caught an earlier flight back into DFW last Friday so I would have plenty of time to make the trip down to Mansfield to see the local football team participate in their semi-final contest. The team more or less gave the game to the opponents in the first half. The second half was a different contest. The local team made a 'championship' effort to come back and take the lead. A great effort by these young men to go up 20 to 19. Then the wheels fell off....................

I counted at least nine paid professionals (may have been more) on the sidelines, and more than likely there were at least two paid professionals in the pressbox for a total of at least 11 paid professionals. These professionals are paid to lead these young men, and have been entrusted with the chance these young men have now reached. At a minimum the total salaries paid to these professionals is most likely in the neighborhood of $750,000 plus benefits. You ask what does this have to do with the efforts of these young men?

Professionals have been entrusted as overseers and developers of young men. They have been entrusted to make key decisions for these young men, and help lead these young men through the contest with strategy. With less than two minutes to go in the contest and the local young men within the opponents ten yard line, not a single professional bothered to look at the counting down of the play clock. The play clock ...tick....tick...tick...tick... reached ZERO. These young men were assessed a penalty for taking too much time to get a play off. Eleven paid professionals and not one bothered to look after the interest of these young men by calling time out. The time out was no problem for these young men still had a few banked. This 'slip of interest' may or may not have been the game changer. The one thing known for sure is no one will ever know as to the significance of this 'slip of interest' in regards to this athletic contest.

Young men hat's off to a great effort, and perhaps next time one of the paid professionals will be paying closer attention to the details. Champions are disciplined to pay attention to the details.

Details make champions.

Trust in government

"Those in government are subject to the same imperfections of human nature, the same greed, as everyone else."

Thus, in his "Farewell Address" of 1796, George Washington warned:

"The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create whatever the form of government, a real despotism. A just estimate of the love of power, and proneness to abuse it, which predominates in the human heart is sufficient to satisfy us of the truth of this proposition."

Similarly, Thomas Jefferson (Notes on Virginia, 1784) warned:

"Mankind soon learn to make interested uses of every right and power which they possess, or may assume. The public money and public liberty...will soon be discovered to be sources of wealth and dominion to those who hold them; distinguished, too, by this tempting circumstance, that they are the instrument, as well as the object of acquisition."

Do we currently have an elected representative that is not greedy?

Washington "spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers" is this not true today?

Jefferson "public money and public liberty...will soon be discovered to be sources of wealth and dominion to those who hold them" is very true today at any level of government. Once a taxpayer funded entity gets your tax dollars they act as if it is their own money. They totally forget that you entrusted them with the money. The hired staff then determines how best to not use your money and your elected representatives just go along for the ride.

Place your trust in government for they know best..................

And these folks want to run our health care system

The Federal Government's current $12 trillion in debt will nearly double to $21 trillion over the next ten years, according to projections by the CBO. Of the $9 trillion increase, more than half will be to cover interest payments.

What can the average guy on the street do about our runaway spending? Nothing.

Sure, we can vote each November for the candidate we think is best. We can write to our representatives. We have freedom of speech. But beyond that, all we can do is watch politicians drive our great country into financial ruin.

US economic view from afar

Excerpt from the "Daily Reckoning Australia" newsletter.........................

"One thing Americans take for granted is that they will always be the richest, most successful people on earth. They think that because that is what they have always known. The US economy became the biggest in the world before 1900. Americans had just what it took to become the richest people on the planet. They worked hard. They saved their money. They had little government interference. They had the industrial revolution at their backs...and nothing in their way. And they had a dollar that was 'as good as gold.' By the time the baby boomers were born the US had such a big lead over the rest of the world, it seemed like nothing could stop it. Free enterprise guaranteed new innovations and new wealth. Democracy guaranteed a political system that would adapt to the needs of the evolving economy.

But nothing lasts forever. As it matured, the US economy and its political system became more and more rigid and more and more costly, with handouts and bailouts...at every level. Large companies are protected. Millions of people are encouraged not to work. The whole financial industry is dipped in honey. And the whole population is urged not to save, but to spend. Why bother to save for retirement; there's Social Security. Why bother to save for health care emergencies; there's the government's new overhaul of the medical system! Why bother to save at all; the government has fixed short-term rates so low you get nothing for your trouble.

On our travels what we notice is that there are a lot of smart people in the world. And they're all sweating, striving, and angling to get ahead. You never know who will win the race, but you can be sure that no one will stay in the lead forever."

And you trust the federal government with health care

"According to a government site aimed at tracking federal stimulus money $15 million dollars has gone to Texas districts that don't exist. There are 32 congressional districts in Texas but according to www.recovery.com nearly nine million dollars went to a fictional 52nd district that created zero jobs. North Texas congressman Joe Barton plans to investigate where close to $15 million dollars went to create 98 jobs in Texas."

Thanksgiving

The truth is that any of us with employment, who have roofs over our heads, food on our tables, money in our pockets, and are healthy enough to enjoy the fruits of our labor have plenty to be thankful for on a daily basis, not just today. There’s not a single day that goes by that I don’t consider myself one of the luckiest people on Earth. While you enjoy Thanksgiving and count your blessings don't forget about those who have not been blessed with the same or equal fruit.

As you know, there are a lot of individuals having a tough go of things these days, and for those of us who have been blessed we owe it to ourselves and others to reach out and help in some way. Every one of us knows someone having a tough go, so my recommendation for you is to simply find some way to help them in some way this season. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be a grand gesture or huge sacrifice for you and your wallet. In fact, in many cases it will only require a simple phone call to let them know you care and are there to help them in some way. As the saying goes, it is the little things that are important in life. Understand that and you’ll discover one of the true secrets of being successful and living a happy life.

By all means don't forget those in the military. They continue to fight for our freedoms on a daily basis. Without their sacrifice then you and I may not be be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

From the bottom of my heart, I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Integrity, values and gyrostabilizer

Can't seem to get off this theme of integrity. There should be three non-negotiables: one's vision to create the best, one's mission, and one's values. All are deeply rooted in our history and culture, and are usually the most significant reasons for one's success. Everything else in life is strategic and tactical with regards to adapting to the things that change around each of us.

However, our core values remain true. As individuals we are guided by our underlying values that never change. These values are practical habits that guide our everyday behaviors and relationships with clients, customers, taxpayers, employees, students, constituents, and the communities in which we live.

Our values also form the foundation of how we develop our leaders. Those values lead to behaviors, which in turn lead to positive results. Our school administration should ingrain in our student athletes that honesty and integrity mean keeping agreements (school handbook) and never compromising principles for short-term benefit (district championships). Acknowledging reality and thinking independently mean making logical decisions, and this is a major part of our internal integrity meter. Consider how these values, and the leadership principles based on them, are responsible for the development of our young student athletes. The pertinent issues (student handbook) were fully disclosed, and our student athletes, students, etc. should be held fully accountable. This is the process of developing one's internal values and self worth. One should never 'muddy the water' with a double-standard based upon student athlete v. regular student. The one thing that is true is that they are all students first, and whatever else second.

Everything we do should be consistent with our values and the values we seek to convey. Perhaps Twi-lite Super and school administration should complete an inventory of their own personal values and internal integrity meter. One would hope that they would draw a more realistic approach to creating two separate sets of values depending upon student athlete v. regular student expectations. One could conclude that a student athlete should be held to a higher standard than a regular student. After all, the student athlete sought the privilege to participate in a more costly endeavor at the expense of taxpayers.

I may have finally gotten this issue off my chest, but every time I attend a round table discussion these double-standards are discussed. Why should a teacher have to resign over such double-standards? Twi-lite Super should be sent packing once again! Twi-lite Super's value gyro is out of kilter, and the only way to repair a damaged gyro is by discarding the damaged gyro. She retired once retire her again and let her work on that out of kilter value gyrostabilizer.

Sticking with the issue of integrity

Recently I attended a gathering of fine folks in the extreme far eastern stretch of our county, and it was a fine gathering with some excellent food and good conversation. Strange how the issue of integrity seems to just pop up in conversations these days. Seems as if most at this gathering have become quite concerned about the issue of integrity, and the lack of conveying such to our young people today. The conversation mainly centered on the aspect of our federal government. However, one individual discussed the lack of integrity displayed by our school administration and PISD board. The individual did note that the PISD board may or may not know about certain issues and could not place blame with them 100%. However, this individual freely shared their views about the lack of integrity regarding the individual who is responsible for running the schools on a daily basis. I was not sure as to who this individual was referring and when I asked the answer came as I suspected - Twi-Lite Super.

It appears that the new role taken on by Twi-Lite Super as chief investigator for the district has established a double standard when it comes to punishment for wrong doing. In a more recent post I reported the incident in regards to students who were athletes who were caught in some wrong doings and the PISD never addressed the issue by suspending the individuals from athletic activity. That post discussed the issue of integrity and what is being conveyed to our young people today. At this gathering in the far eastern bounds of the county this individual shared with those standing that a non-athletic student was recently punished and sent to behavior management school (schools refer to this as ISS) for the possession of a hunting knife on school property locked away in his truck. It was reported the security dog sniffed it out on one of his/her visits to the school parking lot. Then it was discussed that another
student (an athletic participant) also had his vehicle sniffed by the dog and a hunting knife was found along with a prescription drug for which the student had no prescription. It was reported this athletic participant student received no punishment for being in the possession of a weapon and an illegal drug while being on school property. It was reported that both are automatic violations under school policy and punishment for such violations are already defined in the student handbook. It appears Twi-lite Super allows for athletic participants to abide by one set of rules and non-athletic students are required to adhere to the current school policies.

If I understood correctly if they sent the athletic participant to behavior management school then he/she would not be permitted to participate in athletics for that same period of time is what I gathered from the conversation. The other student did not participate so it was okay for he/she to be confined to behavior management school. Double-standard at its extreme! If you don't teach integrity while they are young then they grow up like Twi-lite Super believing it is okay to make such value judgements with regards to trying to justify it is alright to do a wrong. This should never be the case and Twi-lite Super nor any school personnel should ever lower the standard to try and justify something that does future harm to one's developing internal integrity meter. Integrity should never be sold out for any reason. In the end it is one of the only things in life one is issued a grade by the rest of society. If you justify a lack of integrity now then the student will for the rest of his/her life try to justify every wrong doing, and always try to make it right. It happens everyday and all one has to do is read the paper, watch the news, etc.

Did you read about the recent conviction of a couple in Galveston for the killing of a baby? They tried to justify a wrong. The baby would not stop crying so they took extreme measures and the baby ended up dying from the extreme measures taken. They tried to justify and rationalize the wrong as being a right. They sold out their integrity. Were they taught to justify there lack of integrity from an earlier incident in life?

And the rats jump ship

"Today in Hardin County, seven Democrats announced that they are switching parties to become Republicans. The new Republicans include Sheriff Ed Cain, County Judge Billy Caraway and Precinct 4 Commissioner Bobby Franklin. And at noon Tuesday in Palo Pinto County, Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Bobby Hart switched his party affiliation and became a Republican."

The folks jumped ship on November 4,2009. Question is did they jump to the party of lesser government or not?

Texas House Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio)

"open" to the idea of "indexing" gasoline taxes. As the reporter correctly noted, indexing "is a fancy way of saying 'raising.'"

Raising the tax on gasoline is back on the table for study in the coming months as the legislature begins the tradition of interim study. Speaker Staus is open to the idea of indexing the gasoline tax. Why even bother with looking at the gasoline tax? Anytime there is a potential shortage of funds then the gasoline tax comes up in the legislature. Why do we pay a gasoline tax in Texas? To help fund transportation projects is the correct answer. However, over time like any tax it eventually is used to fund other state mandated programs.

According to state government critic Michael Q. Sullivan "gas tax receipts have grown at a remarkable clip. Where has the money gone? The black holes of fruitless mass transit projects like light-rail, taxpayer-funded lobbying, and other dubious directions." As taxpayers we need to demand an immediate end to the diversion of more than 40 percent of current state gasoline taxes to non-road construction uses. Would having an additional 40 percent solve all the transportation issues in Texas? Probably not; however, it would go a long way to finishing up some projects, i.e. highway 11 bridge east of town. When will this nightmare project be over with? Wonder how much of the 40 percent is diverted to public schools? That is a research topic for another day.

Mr. Straus needs to concentrate on legislation already on the books and make sure it is being carried out appropiately before we start adding new taxes. Wonder how the Texas Tea Party weighs in on this issue? Guess I should schedule a tea party for some answers. It is estimated that over 1000 people attended the Tea Party held in Mt. Pleasant on November 2, 2009.

Unfit for service has its problems

Anyone catch the report that 75% of our young citizens between the ages of 17-24 are unfit for military service. This drys up the pool quickly! It appears that a report by Mission: Readiness a Washington nonprofit organization has concluded that 75% of our young people are unfit due to being overweight and other physical ailments that make them unfit for the armed forces. Overweight and physical ailments are not the only reasons cited. The one that jumps off the page at you is "largely because they are poorly educated". We all have known for years that our kids today are fat and overweight due to lack of physical activity. Where are those family farms?

With all the money we continue to pump into education (once again another confirmation that our money is being wasted) one would think the US would have the most educated pool available in the world for military service. What does the education bureaucracy do with all the money? Fancy sports complexes, excessive school buildings, unneeded school vehicles, continuous outings to fancy resorts, i.e. Gaylord in Grapevine, Texas, and excessive administration overhead. With schools no longer promoting integrity due to the lack of integrity by some school administrators the report also cites issues like drug use, criminal records (football players who drink and drive come to mind), and mental problems as reducing the pool as well.

Who will be there to help us if we are ever attacked here is this country? This problem of 75% being unfit for military service threatens our ability to defend ourselves in the event of an attack. The Russians once said they would take us over by never firing a shot. Who would have ever thought that our country's poor education system and our excessive nation of fat young people could be the answer to the statement made by the Russians.

Twi-lite super has taken on a new role

From the coffee shop round table in a rural area of Camp County it is reported that Twi-lite Super has now taken on the task of PISD Chief Investigator displacing the PISD school police officer. Two incidents were discussed at the round table. One incident involved two PISD star football players who were pulled over by local law enforcement after the LE game in October. The two star players were in possession of alcohol while driving. The two had just left the school parking lot; therefore, they were in possession of alcohol on school property unless they can prove otherwise. Not only were state laws violated, but local school policy was violated as well. It was reported that Twi-lite Super took over the investigation and as of this date no results have been released. If these violations are true then the two should be suspended from extra-curricular activities, i.e. football team, and suspended from school. By letting this slide you are doing these young men no favor in the grand scheme of life. Integrity in the individual and the program mean more than a football championship. You have a chance at a learning moment in a young persons life and tough love is the only option.

The other incident discussed concerns a theft by a student from a teachers purse. The teacher confronted the student, and the confrontation upset the parents of the student. They complained and Twi-lite Super in her new role as Chief Investigator for PISD was on the case. In the end the campus principle and Twi-lite Super turned their back on the teacher and the teacher immediately tenured her resignation. I don't know the teacher personally, but in conversation when I ask about the teacher I am told that she is a good teacher with no integrity issues. It is reported the family from which the teacher comes is an outstanding local family with no integrity issues. Twi-lite Super is/was willing to let star football players off the hook; therefore, one can conclude where the integrity issue lies.

Twi-lite Super is all this true? If this is true then why are these issues being covered up, not spoken about from a school officials view, etc. Don't give us the spill that they are students and their privacy is protected. You can address these issues without violating the privacy of these students. The public has a right to know and you have an obligation as PISD Chief Administrator to find a way to communicate to the public.

Integrity and class still matter

Integrity and class still matter today. A friend forwarded the link to an article about integrity and class and I felt the need to share. At times many critics of sponsored sports question the need and expense of such activities. This article states the case for the good in such activities. Integrity and class still matter when those in charge have integrity and class and they are more concerned about conveying those attitudes no matter the cost. You don't need turf fields, multi-million dollar athletic facilities, etc. to convey the necessary principles of success in life. You need individuals who put into practice what they teach on a daily basis. What a valuable lesson displayed and learned by the leaders of the two schools mentioned in the article. Someone realized it was only a game, and there are more precious things in life than a win/loss record. At times public and private schools pamper athletes which ends up harming the student athlete in the long run. Tough love is a valuable asset that needs to be practiced more often. When practiced young men and women learn valuable lessons that help society as a whole, and provides better direction for a successful life. There is not much tough love in the article; however, one knows when tough love is the norm. All one has to do is consider the actions by the participants at all levels.

J&J To Cut 7% of Workforce

and the Obama administration continues to lead one to believe they have created jobs during this financial meltdown. Oops! Story changed they saved over a half a million jobs rather than create jobs. Oops! Who does the administration think they are kidding? The people are smarter than the administration. Look for historical unemployment before this 'cat gets out of the bag' anytime soon. Obama and company need to regroup and quit feeding the American public the same ole line of crap. If the American people are not spending then we have no jobs for the poor and uneducated that live among our ranks. The spending creates the jobs! Making things requires workers. Workers work they earn wages. Wages equal spending. It is like the 'circle of life' the system is self sustaining.

Tragic Day

Pray for the folks at Ft. Hood. Blood is still needed for those who were injured.

Equalization only exist in theory

Let me explain why equalization only exist in theory..............................

It was once said that "the wealth of the poor has been sacrificed to that of the rich." One has to analyze and formulate his own opinion as to what is rich. It seems as if the rich are the only ones who own land, and this makes everyone else seem poor. However, is this really the case? Most likely not. The next question you have to consider "is it more profitable for the poor to work for the rich than for the poor to own plots of land"? The poor most likely do profit more from the rich land owners for they have no responsibility for taxes associated with the owning of land. No one should take from this that the "interests of the poor have been set aside for those of the rich". Someone has to provide away for the poor to profit and they are given this opportunity via landowners. Is it equal? No. Will it ever be equal? No. Do the poor need a way to profit? Yes. Is it in the best interest of the landowners that the poor profit? Yes. Thus, the mutual benefit which leads to the equalization in theory!

The same reasoning can be applied to educating our students. Some are more gifted than others in regard to capabilities of learning. No matter how you try to level the playing field for all you will always have those who are more gifted in the talents of learning. Spend all you want, but you will never make the playing field completely equal for all students with regards to learning. One could argue that you are actually causing more harm to the students gifted in the talents of learning than helping those not as gifted. It is not about the education as much as it is about the learning. Is learning equal? No. Will it ever be equal? No. Do the not so talented learners need a way to learn and prosper? Yes. Is it in the best interest of the gifted learners that all benefit from learning? Yes. Is it possible the less gifted can draw from the talents of the more gifted? The possibility exist. Thus, the mutual benefit which leads to the equalization in theory!

Can one consider the health care issue under the same theory? Yes. Can one consider the issue of Cap and Trade under the theory? Yes. Can one consider the issue of immigration under the theory? Yes.

One has to determine if the theory is provable.

Thought Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.)

"Thought Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) was headed in the right direction; however, the title to the article was deceiving. He really feels Congress has any and all powers to make the American people do whatever the government commands.................read on.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) could not explain what part of the Constitution grants Congress the power to force every American to buy health insurance – as all of the health care overhaul bills currently do.

Leahy, whose committee is responsible for vetting Supreme Court nominees, was asked by CNSNews.com where in the Constitution Congress is specifically granted the authority to require every American purchase health insurance. Leahy answered by saying that “nobody questions” Congress’ authority for such an action.

CNSNews.com: Where, in your opinion, does the Constitution give specific authority for Congress to give an individual mandate for health insurance?

Sen. Leahy: We have plenty of authority. Are you saying there is no authority?

CNSNews.com: I’m asking –

Sen. Leahy: Why would you say there is no authority? I mean, there’s no question there’s authority, nobody questions that.

When CNSNews.com again attempted to ask which provision of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to force Americans to purchase health insurance, Leahy compared the mandate to the government’s ability to set speed limits on interstate highways – before turning and walking away.

CNSNews.com: But, which provision –

Sen. Leahy: Where do we have the authority to set speed limits on an interstate highway? The federal government does that on federal highways."

Got yours yet?

This comes forwarded to me from several individuals, and I thought it should be shared here if you should need a cell phone.

"I had a former employee call me earlier today inquiring about a job, and at the end of the conversation he gave me his phone number. I asked the former employee if this was a new cell phone number and he told me yes this was his “Obama phone.” I asked him what an “Obama phone” was and he went on to say that welfare recipients are now eligible to receive (1) a FREE new phone and (2) approx 70 minutes of FREE minutes every month. I was a little skeptical so I Googled it and low and behold he was telling the truth. TAX PAYER MONEY IS BEING REDISTRIBUTED TO WELFARE RECIPIENTS FOR FREE CELL PHONES. This program was started earlier this year. Enough is enough, the ship is sinking and it’s sinking fast. The very foundations that this country was built on are being shaken.

The age old concepts of God, family, and hard work have flown out the window and are being replaced with “Hope and Change” and “Change we can believe in.”

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM

One of the best EXPLANATIONS of why OBAMA won the election.............From a teacher in the Nashville area:

"We are worried about 'the cow' when it is all about the 'Ice Cream.' The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year...
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down. Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down.

The class went wild. Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone --that they have not first taken away from someone else.

Ft. Worth Star-Telegrams take on appraisal reform props

http://www.star-telegram.com/242/story/1680432.html

Everything I read these days informs me that the newspaper business is struggling. No one is reading the hard copy and that has led to less advertising revenue. However, you would think the folks at the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram are flush with cash. In an editorial they have asked voters to reject all 3 props dealing with appraisal reforms. They present some okay arguments in the case for prop 2, but they still don't get the big picture of appraisal reform and the fact the people know best how to spend their hard earned pocket money.

Prop 2 will no longer require CADs to appraise under the highest and best use principle contained within the statues. A piece of property that is currently a homestead for a fine Texan cannot be appraised based upon its potential to be a shopping mall. After all these folks did not ask for the development the development came to them. If they should decide to sell then the property can be reappraised for its intended purpose. There is still a lot of rural land in Texas, and one would hate to see that land put on the tax rolls as commercial property for the sake of higher tax revenue for the taxing entities.

Prop 3 will standardize appraisal practices across the state. CADs had this responsibility, but failed in their duties to the property owning taxpayers. The only real way to fix this problem is by making local CAD executive boards elected positions. No one sitting as a school board member, city council member, commissioner's court member, etc. should be allowed to serve on the executive board of a CAD. This is comparable to the fox watching over the hen house. I would think that the chief appraisers of this state would be in favor of this prop in order to remove any possible pressure to increase values to raise local tax revenue conflict that may arise between them and the executive board. Can't deny the argument the Star-Telegram makes with regards to bigger government on this issue; however, I think the prop out weighs the negative. Texas state government seems to get very little done when they meet in Austin and I think property owners would be the winner if prop 3 passes.

Prop 5 will allow appraisal districts in adjacent counties to have consolidated appraisal review boards to handle property-owner appeals. What a great idea! Now a property owner can have a real ARB hearing with an impartial jury of his/her peers. In far too many cases in this state the ARB is equipped with retreaded members. The same people seem to find their way back as sitting members of an ARB. No one should be allowed to serve more than one term (at least one term every 10 years) as an ARB member. Property ownership should be a requirement to serve as an ARB member, and every property owner should be given an opportunity to serve. Prop 5 lends itself to an unbias jury and the ARB member pool gets larger. This is especially helpful in the rural areas of the state. The Star-Telegram has forgotten that Ft. Worth and Tarrant county are no longer rural, and we still have some 'real' rural areas remaining in this state.

Book slams Perry over ‘starving government'

http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/Book_slams_Perry_over_starving_government.html

Don't know which camp you fall into - Perry v. Hutchinson, but this book is a 'crock'. Perry can be blamed for being an A&M graduate; however, his stance on limited government is right on. Texas is the only state in the union that has managed to maintain jobs and lure business operations into Texas from other states during this financial meltdown. Agree that we might be a little slow on the food stamp handouts, and the press reported lack of insurance, etc., but the individuals have to take some responsibility for their own interests at times. Government is not the answer to all the problems.

State Sen. Eliot Shapleigh (D) El Paso has the belief that government is the engine that makes the state roar. “Perry's leadership for 25 years has been about starving government,” according to Sen. Shapleigh. If re-elected may the good Gov continue to starve government!

Wonder if Sen. Shapleigh has starved during his time of service to this great state?

Step Up and vote YES on Prop. 2

One the best on the ballot is Proposition 2, which will require that homes be appraised – shockingly – as homes.

Right now, the property’s value can be appraised as if it were something else, specifically something that will bring more money into local government coffers.

(Watch this week’s video!)

Remember: appraisal districts generally don’t work for the taxpayers. They are appointed by, and answerable to, the local taxing entities. They are judge, jury and fiscal executioner.

Proposition 2 doesn’t fix all the problems with our property tax system, but it does close one glaring loophole and provide taxpayers with some protection.

Garrett v. Roe

Anyone been keeping up with this match in the local Gazette. Interesting stuff and a great exercise in freedom of expression. The first time I read Mr. Garrett's Letter To the Editor I was a bit confused. I felt like he wanted folks living today to take responsibility for the transgressions against folks he nor I even knew from the past. Accountability - you can't hold anyone alive today accountable for issues of the past. For someone to be accountable for their actions they have to have had an opportunity to participate in the particular activity. Living in the past is for folks who like failure, and is the losers way to think. Positive thinking prevails! Always has and always will. Living in the past blinds one trying to find his way in the future. Dr. Martin Luther King never lived in the past and he was a progressive forward thinking fellow (read his works and don't rely on folk tales).

Mr. Baker wrote a wonderful piece in response to Mr. Garrett. Mr. Baker held Mr. Garrett accountable! Dang, there is that word again. It appears that Mr. Garrett plagiarized someones work in order to make a point about Democrats and Republicans. Mr. Baker did not take kindly to such action and rightfully held Mr. Garrett accountable (that word again). If Mr. Garrett spent time studying past political history he would know that it was the Republican Party that made it possible for the African-American population to become part of the America today. Texas use to hold 'White Primary' elections and only whites were allowed to vote in these elections (young folks of today would not know this type of information). Blacks could vote in general elections, but they were not given an opportunity to have a say in which candidates would appear on the November general election ballots. 'White Primary' elections were a product created by the Texas Democratic Party. Parties (not the government) were and still are to some extent responsible for the primary elections in this state. It was the Republican Party that debated and pressed for an end to the issue of slavery at the national level. Historical research might do this young fellow some good.

Perhaps Mr. Garrett needs to look beyond the issue of the US being Democrat and Republican, and just be dog gone happy to be an American. Being an American affords Mr. Garrett the freedom to express his opinion and this must be a good thing. If Mr. Garrett does not like America the door to leave is open (as an American you have the freedom to choose). This loser mentality is not the attitude that needs to be conveyed to the young of any race in this country. There are a number from any race who will gladly open the door for your exit should you exercise your freedom as an American to do so.

One other note, Mr. Garrett probably needs to take a look at the census numbers of late and get the news flash that the black and white populations are shrinking in this country. One additional note for Mr. Garrett - OUR President under his Cap and Trade legislation may put a tax on all that methane gas you produce and spout into the air you and I breath. Is this not a great country!

Effort garners prize

What happened to being judged based upon results? It appears our Nobel Peace prize friends have made an exception and awarded Pres. Obama the Nobel prize for peace based upon effort. At least Jimmy Carter had an end result for his efforts!

Pres. Obama is going to need that Nobel prize when his Cap and Trade legislation (H.R. 2454) is passed and becomes ingrained in our daily lives here the US. Farmers will need to purchase CO2 credits for the methane gas their cows pass into the air. Families will be upset, for we will have to return to the days of burning candles for light. Coal fired power plants will be moth balled by electricity producers due to this legislation. More workers will be sent home for lack of jobs. Wonder if the AFL-CIO is for this legislation?

Back to the farmers. This legislation includes anyone farming, i.e. wheat, rice, watermelons, soybeans, etc. (http://www.afpc.tamu.edu/pubs/2/526/rr%2009-2%20paper%20-%20for%20web.pdf) Yep, the folks at TAMU have already produced a paper on this Cap and Trade issue as it relates to farmers. Look for the necessities of life to increase in price, i.e. food, milk, etc.

The Cap and Traders still argue that it will only affect those companies that continue to use coal in the production of electricity. Perhaps they should read the entire bill and while they are at it they need to re-read the health care bill as well. Bottom line to the consumers in America - higher light bills, higher grocery bills, higher fuel bills, and higher taxes to pay for the folks that are required to oversee this new legislation.

Nobel Peace Prize? Guess effort is better than results any day of the week! Wonder if effort will pay the bills?

Fact or fiction - Greenspan and local Twi-lite Super

"you need to consider the fact that most pension/retirement plans/401's/etc., are connected to Wall Street. If you believe that Wall Street is evil, I'd recommend that you ditch your retirement plan - you can't wish for a retirement financial future on one hand & bash Wall Street with the other hand..."

"facts one might agree with:

Al Gore invented the internet!

Clinton didn't have sex with that woman!

It's unpatriotic for republicans to protest!

It's all Bush's fault!

Al Gore also invented Global Warming!

...Clinton din't inhale, and Barney Frank ran a gay bordelo

Greenspan said the U.S. will have to tighten credit and raise taxes in the near future after the economic meltdown.

"We are still by any measure in a disinflationary environment," Greenspan said."

Ole bubble head himself is back on the talk circuit working to aid the Obama economic team; howver, bubble head is a fraud. He invented disinflation!

He (Greenspan) PURPOSELY created "controlled" inflation to support the government programs and prop up markets. Unfortunately, the only part of inflation controlled was how the government reported it. Actual inflation is never reported because they leave out key segments of the market such as food and energy. Additionally, he also was at the helm when the FED decided to no longer report how much money they were pumping into the economy to keep the public from seeing how their currency was purposely being devalued.

Your local Twi-lite Super and her admin staff have purposely created some controlled items as well at the local PISD. Do your homework and remove the covers to see the real numbers! The insiders know the truth, but fear the wrath of Twi-lite Super and company.

Feeling no love

Three new school board members in the past few years and they show no love towards the folks who helped put them in office. The folks who put you there had high expectations for change and not the status quo. The time for action has arrived - the 'flame out' status is getting tiresome. You go to a ballgame and participate in the 'wave' now is the time for some 'wave' action as a board member.

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Twi-lite Super

Twi-lite Super needs to be a resident and taxpaying member of the community in which she is employed, and the PISD should demand this take place immediately. The same goes for Assistant Twi-lite Super. Being a member of a local service club does not give you the necessary status of resident and local taxpayer. At the very least show some class and remove the D-field window decal off your automobile. I understand that many from D-field would like the decal removed as well.

The PISD board make-up was changed with the election of two new members back in the spring; however, the board still operates as if nothing changed. Bad for the taxpayers, for we had such high hopes for some new independent thinkers, but to date they have only achieved 'flame-out' status. From your business background you know taxpayer money is not being spent in the most efficient manner, but not one objection during the budget process.

Why serve if you are just going to be an attender of meetings? Anyone can complete this task.......... at least the folks at the county called the CAD budget into question.

Twi-lite Super and her admin staff

Congrats to Twi-lite Super and staff for achieving better school rankings for the previous school year. Unfortunately the state increased the 'curve' so more schools could achieve better rankings in general. Looks like the TEA has adopted the current theme of grade inflation that was written about in the Dallas Morning News a couple months back. Oh well, the press coverage was a good shot in the arm..................................

Twi-lite Super and staff were busy on fluffing the budget with school aides which increase the overhead expenses of the taxpayer funded organization. Being curious about the necessary number of aides needed phone calls were made and a simple survey taken of other districts to determine the appropriate number of aides for a district, and it was determined that the PISD employs far more than necessary for districts of similar size. Many larger districts had fewer than the PISD. Must be a power thing! On another note it is being whispered that the PISD might like to try and float another bond election. Get ready folks they will try and play the increasing population theme once again, so be on your toes and do your own research to be in a position to verify good or bad numbers.

It is still opinioned that for the PISD to be truly successful the board must remove Twi-lite Super for a more modern, younger, and progressive individual who understands the education world of the day. Be on the look-out for that bond proposal............................

Two of Rangel’s top aides

get in on the action of restating their financial disclosures.

Rangel: The Most Corrupt Dem?

By Ross Kaminsky – Human Events.com
First there was “Countrywide Chris” Dodd (D-Conn.), whose combination of poor judgment and possible corruption qualifies him to be Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. Then there was Tim “TurboTax” Geithner, whose false tax return filings qualify him to be Secretary of the Treasury.

And now, in keeping with the Democrats’ recent tendency to have scoundrels in the highest positions involving regulation of the nation’s finances, we have the Chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), who recently filed amended financial disclosure reports showing a net worth about double what he had previously reported.

In addition to showing his net worth increasing from a range of $516,015 and $1,316,000 to a range of $1,028,024 to $2,495,000 in his amended 2007 financial disclosure form filed last month, Rangel also reported substantial 2007 income and several transactions involving mutual fund sales, purchases, and exchanges which he had not disclosed earlier. The new numbers are not small, especially as a percentage of Rangel’s total net worth.

For example, while Rangel was reporting net worth in the area of $1 million, he “overlooked” two accounts worth over $250,000 each (one checking, one mutual fund), another bank account, several other mutual fund accounts, and holdings of stock and land totaling another roughly $300,000. In other words, Rangel’s unreported assets were worth about as much as his reported assets.

According to the Sunlight Foundation, “Rangel failed to report purchases, sales or his ownership of assets at least 28 times since 1978 on his personal financial disclosure forms. Assets worth between $239,026 and $831,000 appeared and disappeared with no disclosure of when they were acquired, how long they were held or when they were sold, as House rules require.”
And while Rangel offered a weak excuse of having delegated the completion of these forms to his staff, there is reason to be suspicious that the omissions were unintentional or unexpected. Two of Rangel’s top aides — who serve as staffers to the Ways and Means Committee — also recently filed financial disclosure amendments going back to 2002 and showing previously unreported rental and business income, with one of those aides, George Dalley, failing to report over $200,000 in income over a 4-year span.

Rangel’s public trouble with numbers started well before these disclosure issues. In 2008, Rangel was found to be renting four rent-stabilized apartments in Upper Manhattan in violation of state and city regulations, paying a total rent of about half of the “fair” market rates. The New York Times reported last July that the landlord, the Olnick Organization has “been accused of overzealous tactics as they move to evict tenants from their rent-stabilized apartments and convert the units into market-rate housing… Yet Mr. Rangel, a critic of other landlords’ callousness, has been uncharacteristically reticent about Olnick’s actions.”

Shortly afterwards, it was widely reported that Rangel earned “more than $75,000” in rental income from a villa he owns in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic — income that was not only “overlooked” on his Congressional financial disclosures but also on his federal and state tax returns. The National Legal and Policy Center (“NLPC”), a watchdog group that has uncovered much of Rangel’s wrongdoing, says they “were puzzled that the media simply accepted Rangel’s figure of $75,000 when it appeared the total was much higher.” In his original 2007 disclosure form, Rangel reported zero income from the Punta Cana property, but the amended filing shows between $5,001 and $15,000. For these errors he first blamed his wife and then his inability to speak Spanish.

The NLPC also found that Charlie Rangel had illegally claimed homestead exemptions (to reduce property taxes) in both Washington, D.C. and New York simultaneously.

These issues and more are currently before the House Ethics Committee for investigation. “How could there be more?” you might ask. Here are just a couple other items: Rep. Rangel parked a 1972 Mercedes in a House of Representatives parking lot for several years in violation of House rules…probably a tax code violation as well for not reporting the value of the parking space as income. He spent about $80,000 of campaign funds over less than 4 years on “cheap-looking and shoddy” websites run by his son, stopping the payments only after his son was given an $80,000 annual salary to work for the House Energy and Commerce Committee. All possibly legal, but certainly unethical.

Rangel impermissibly used official congressional letterhead to solicit donations to the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York. Also, it appears he helped pass a tax loophole for a corporation while asking the corporation’s CEO for a donation to the Center. According to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, by no means a conservative group, Rangel “may have committed bribery, deprived his constituents of his honest services, and accepted an illegal gratuity.”

And just days ago, it was reported in the New York Post that “Rangel reported no rental income for eight years on his rundown Harlem row house, even though public records show tenants were living there.” The NY Post article describes years of chaotic swings of income reporting, non-reporting, and amendments.

The House Ethics Committee’s investigation has been dragging on for a year. On one hand, each passing month seems to give the committee some other Rangel malfeasance to look into. Yet one wonders why there are not at least interim findings when the subject is the legislator with the single greatest ability to influence the tax code.

In 2008, the House tabled a resolution brought by Republican leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) to reprimand Rangel for “dishonoring himself and (bringing) discredit to the House.” According to news reports, at least 25 Republicans voted against the resolution. But with the continued flow of information about Rangel’s ethical lapses, Boehner has now called (pdf) on his friend to give up his position as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee because “trust is everything.” Reached for comment for this article, a spokesman for Boehner suggested that “given the staggering array of ethics allegations he faces, Chairman Rangel really has no choice but to give up his gavel at the powerful Ways and Means Committee.”

Even the Washington Post is now calling for Rangel to step down, a full year after the New York Times called for him to do so “while his ethical problems are investigated.” However, Charlie Rangel seems in no mood to give up the gavel and Nancy “Culture of Corruption” Pelosi is saying she will not remove Rangel from his chairmanship unless the Ethics Committee finds a violation or a prosecutor charges him with a crime.

In the meantime, the committee that writes our tax code will be operating under a cloud, with citizens wondering just what sort of double-dealing may be happening right under our noses, guided by the shifty hand of Charlie Rangel. After all, as the Sunlight Foundation’s Bill Allison notes dryly, “It makes people suspicious when all of a sudden you double your wealth.”

Lou Dobb's sure knows how to speak

If you are a Texian you are an American and Mr. Dobb's has become the 'burr' under the saddle so to speak. He is one genuine fool with all this talk about amnesty. The man needs to give up the TV spot lights and anchor desk, and come live among those who are paying the bills. We all know that CNN is paying his bills to promote their liberal agenda.

Mr. Dobbs and CNN we already have an amnesty plan, and it is called go home and come legally to apply for citizenship! The link is a 2 minute Lou Dobb's commentary on his plan for America.

Five lessons to make you think about the way we treat people

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady
During my second month of college, our professor gave us a popquiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade."Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello." I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing onthe side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 60s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached..It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away... God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others." Sincerely, Mrs.Nat King Cole

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. "How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents," replied the waitress. The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it."Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. "Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied. The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies.. You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willingto give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away". Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

State Democratic Party Chief

Boyd Richie is the state Democratic Party Chief and he is an IDIOT.

Mr. Richie has the nerve to call anti-tax Tea Party participants and those whose question President Obama's citizenship FOOLS. For some unknown reason Mr. Richie thinks the government is working for him; however, we know that is the IDIOT coming out.

Mr. Richie needs to wake-up and see that the Tea Party movement is for real and it crosses party lines. Neither party would know how to deal with a Tea Party candidate for it does not exist in their political party playbook.

Mr. Richie spin it how you wish, but the real FOOL is you.

DIVORCE AGREEMENT

American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce.

I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement: Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion.

That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement.

After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them.. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.

You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens.

We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks.

We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.

We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot.

Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete.

In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,
John J. Wall
Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, Barbara Streisand, &Jane Fonda with you.

P. S. S. And we won't have to press 1 for English.

TWO THOUSAND ONE, NINE ELEVEN

Two thousand one, nine eleven
Three thousand plus arrive in heaven
As they pass through the gate,
Thousands more appear in wait
A bearded man with stovepipe hat
Steps forward saying, "Lets sit, lets chat
"They settle down in seats of clouds
A man named Martin shouts out proud
"I have a dream!" and once he did
The Newcomer said, "Your dream still lives."
Groups of soldiers in blue and gray
Others in khaki, and green then say
"We're from Bull Run, Yorktown, the Maine"
The Newcomer said, "You died not in vain."
From a man on sticks one could hear
"The only thing we have to fear.
The Newcomer said,
"We know the rest, Trust us sir, we've passed that test."
"Courage doesn't hide in caves
You can't bury freedom, in a grave,
"The Newcomers had heard this voice before
A distinct Yankees twang from Hyannisport shores
A silence fell within the mist
Somehow the Newcomer knew that this
Meant time had come for her to say
What was in the hearts of the five thousand plus that day
"Back on Earth, we wrote reports,
Watched our children play in sports
Worked our gardens, sang our songs
Went to church and clipped coupons
We smiled, we laughed, we cried, we fought
Unlike you, great we're not"
The tall man in the stovepipe hat
Stood and said, "Don't talk like that!
Look at your country, look and see
You died for freedom, just like me"
Then, before them all appeared a scene
Of rubbled streets and twisted beams
Death, destruction, smoke and dust
And people working just 'cause they must
Hauling ash, lifting stones,
Knee deep in hell, but not alone
"Look! Blackman, Whiteman, Brownman, Yellowman
Side by side helping their fellow man!"
So said Martin, as he watched the scene
"Even from nightmares, can be born a dream.
"Down below three firemen raised
The colors high into ashen haze
The soldiers above had seen it before
On Iwo Jima back in '45
The man on sticks studied everything closely
Then shared his perceptions on what he saw mostly
"I see pain, I see tears, I see sorrow -- but I don't see fear."
"You left behind husbands and wives
Daughters and sons and so many lives
Are suffering now because of this wrong
But look very closely.
You're not really gone.
All of those people, even those who've never met you
All of their lives, they'll never forget you
Don't you see what has happened?
Don't you see what you've done?
You've brought them together, together as one.
With that the man in the stovepipe hat said
"Take my hand," and from there he led
Three thousand plus heroes, Newcomers to heaven
On this day, two thousand one, nine eleven
