The construction of a new high school complex will not and does not promote growth in a community. Presenting an argument such as this is called a 'smoothing technique'.
There is one exception and the exception deals with communities that do not have schools. If a new community builds a school then that community can expect growth to follow. An example is the Chapel Hill ISD. They added a high school and this encouraged growth in the CHISD community. This is not the case in the PISD for we already have a high school and thus no net benefit.
Adding a new high school building to a community that already has a high school provides no measureable community growth benefits.

As I wrote in a recent letter to the editor of the Pittsburg Gazette, I think that this little county is being torn apart by some who equate the quality of education with carpeted football fields, buildings, gymnasiums, more space to eat, and more space to linger. Some in this group do not question the wisdom of their cause and their decisions. Some in this group do not consider the economic consequences of wasting our limited resources.
I think that most of us know that building new structures will not solve the real education problem. The real problem in education is the need for rapidly improving public pre-college education. I have addressed this and related problems in past letters to the editor.
Some of us would like to see futuristic energy efficient structures built below the surface of the earth, using the lower temperature below the surface for cooling, using solar cells to obtain some of the electrical energy, light tubes from the surface to illuminate the below ground areas, and incorporating other existing, emerging, and imagined features. Some of us have dreamed of selling excess electrical energy to the power companies.
At times like this, I remember Dandy Don on Monday night football ending with, “if, ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we would all have a Merry Christmas.”. We all have dreams, but we must deal with the economic realities of our times.

"I think that most of us know that building new structures will not solve the real education problem. The real problem in education is the need for rapidly improving public pre-college education."
THINK, is the key word there. All other research says other wise. Also how can you do that if you have no space. I also see you are uneducated about the fields and gyms.
"We all have dreams, but we must deal with the economic realities of our times."
And building a structure under ground is not one. Also I want to say sir, you made it ok two years ago, right? The world is not going to come to an end like you guys have talked about. Your letter is prob the same one everyone in town as sayed is so out of touch. We see that in your writings here also.
4 days and counting!!
Making a Case for New Structures
Considering the state and national mandates for energy conservation and energy saving features being incorporated into new school structures, we should be thoughtful in our plans for the future. I do not think that the existing leadership in this county is not up to dealing with this level of complexity.
Several people on the PISD school board seem willing to rubber stamp anything put before them by the PISD and the special interests groups. Several on the school board lack the academic credentials to make good education decisions. One of the school board members is reported to have no college education. Another is reported to only have a two-year junior college certificate. Still another is reported to have lacked the proper credentials to be a principal. I would not trust people like these to run a multi million-dollar company. I think that giving the existing elected officials $36.5 million dollars of taxpayer’s money would be the worst mistake made by voters in the history of Camp County.
Once another traditional structure is started there may be no turning back.
I think that we need more time and more input from within and from outside our county before a bond election is held. There are already some who are researching ways to comply with existing and emerging state and national mandates for more energy efficient school structures.
Mr., Miss., or Ms. bdawn, of what research are you referring? Give me a reference. I can read. I did not attend your school. Are you the best of your class?
You should try harder to understand what we write. Please note that we have no fear of those who try to intimidate business owners and other individuals. We do not ask,” who are these guys?” We do not threaten you. We are all not all guys.
We know who you are and understand your limitations.
